Beach Oaks Place

Although we are notorious for late starts on trips, we got off right on time this morning and were pulling out of the driveway at 5:15 a.m. We hit the road after picking up my mom and making stops for ice and breakfast at the Golden Arches.

The drive down through Arkansas and down Mississippi is one we have taken many many times; we only stopped when Trever wanted to take pictures of trains.

The Mighty Mississippi

Lunch was a car picnic at the visitor center at Vicksburg and after many hours and a few stops in road construction we made it to Bay St. Louis just after 3:00 p.m.

The homeowner met us at the property to show us around and how the most awesome dumbwaiter worked….this brilliant contraption made bringing luggage – and later groceries – upstairs soooooo much easier!

Overlooking the sound

We had planned ahead and made a Walmart order for pickup that was ready soon after we arrived; after getting the groceries picked up and unloaded, we set out to find rations for the evening and setting on Chinese food and pizza. We made a valiant effort to have our dinner outdoors under the house but the little gnats and bugs got the better of us.

The same little bugs made what would have been a pleasant walk along the beach a little less enjoyable so we went back across the street to the house. I have a feeling everyone will sleep well tonight!

Home sweet home for a few days
