Prelude to a Trip

Tomorrow morning we will leave on our first post pandemic vacation. Our first trip to any destination other than the cabin in well over a year. Our first vacation with my mom. Her first vacation without my dad. The first vacation we have boarded our dogs (and Sarah’s diabetic cat).

I have prepared “fun bags” for the girls for every vacation since they were little.

We all have been vaccinated for COVID 19 and will take every precaution but traveling still feels a bit surreal. Add in the usual prevacation stress of planning, prepping, and packing, and I feel exhausted before we have even begun.

Our destination is an area we have visited in the past on spring breaks – the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We will only be there a few days but it is a much needed change of scenery and a break from the ordinary.

So after a very chaotic day and a stressful drop off at the vet for boarding (tears were shed!) we packed up the Durango and plan to head out at daybreak. I often suffer from unrealistic expectations on occasions such as vacations so I will keep them to a minimum. Hoping quite simply for safe travels and a restful and memory making few days on the coast.
