Bunnies & Blooms

Hoppy Spring!

Spring has sprung all over central Arkansas. After a long winter that culminated in a late February snow event, I was ready this year for the milder weather. We only get a brief period of tepid temperatures around here before we jump full force into the heat and humidity of summer, so as soon as it feels remotely spring like, I am ready to get out the bunnies and other springtime decor.

My Lent banner – the reverse side reads “Alleluia”

From a Christian perspective, Easter is actually a season, not just a day, that begins on Easter Sunday and lasts until Pentecost. We are in the season of Lent right now, a time of contemplation and reflection in the forty days before Easter. As I have for the past few years, I have been observing Lent in daily and weekly devotions, in the giving up a Starbucks habit and the giving to worthy organizations with the money I save; however, I do love my secular Easter bunnies, eggs, and all things pastel and springish!

Spring is in full bloom in the natural world as well. Redbuds, pear trees, cherry trees, and others are all showing their colors (and some are spreading their pollen as those with allergies can attest!) Now more than ever, noticing the beauty in small things helps get through the big things.

So take a minute if you are out an about and appreciate the beauty this and every season has to offer. Happy Spring y’all!

No flowers but our willow tree against the blue sky always is a pretty sight.
On of my favorite flea market finds from a flea market on the Gulf Coast – placement from the Kitchen Store!
The bunny on the cheese plate under the cloche looks a bit like a prisoner.
